The area between Oliver and Osoyoos is one of the warmest areas of Western Canada, and the region’s wineries have won more accolades than any other wine region in Canada.
Oliver is known as the wine capital of Canada for good reason. There are over 3500 acres of wine grapes planted and over 40 wineries in the area. It was even given a royal proclamation from Queen Elizabeth in a 2002 visit.
The Golden Mile Bench is located just south of the town of Oliver on the western slope of the valley and has stunning vistas of rolling hills striped with vineyards this is the perfect place to spend the day enjoying the views and tasting exceptional wines.
Across the valley on the eastern side is the Black Sage Bench, one of the hottest, driest, sunniest sites in Canada. With more sunshine hours than the Napa Valley, this is the place for bold reds and beautiful afternoons in the sun.
Osooyoos is the southernmost part of the Okanagan valley and is only about 10 minutes from the U.S border. It is known for its desert like landscapes and is officially Canada’s hottest spot. This is red wine country and Wineries from other regions use grapes grown from over 1500 acres of vineyards in the area to produce their red wines.
